1906 Sweet Briar College opens (original name: The Amherst County Poor Girls School)

Reserve Board was organized, created and was headed by Lynchburg native Carter Glass.
1914 The Great War (WW I) started.

Centenary’s Church Education building School building started at 1501 Rivermont
Avenue, Lynchburg.
1924 Monument Terrace was completed.
